Oakenham was built in 1837 by Thomas Waring Fauntleroy, the wealthiest person in Middlesex per the 1860 census and still stands today near the high school. In the early 1960’s the Gray family was operating Oakenham as a Dairy Farm, and they received this card and Western Union telegram wishing them a Merry Christmas. Note the envelope is simply addressed to Oakenham Saluda, Virginia.
