The Middlesex County Museum & Historical Society is hosting a presentation by Bessida Cauthorne White on the topic of
“DNA 101: An Introduction to Genetic Genealogy.”
DNA
is a powerful tool that can be used to augment traditional genealogical research. This presentation for beginners will include the types of DNA testing that may be used for genealogical purposes, the DNA tests currently on the market, the type of information that they can provide, who should be tested, and the limitations of DNA testing. White will share these basics as well as her personal experiences with DNA testing for herself and her family. She has been a genealogist for forty years and manages DNA test results for thirty-five of her family members and friends.
The program is free to the public but donations are appreciated.
