“My Village Saluda” by Joyce Milby (Green) Reisinger

Written by Joyce Milby (Green) Reisinger, this book is a reminiscence of her 1940s childhood spent in Saluda. The book is laid out as if one is on a walk through the village. She shares stories of the families that reside in the homes of the era that she passes on the walk. It is lavishly illustrated with photographs of the people and places mentioned in the book. Divided into easily readable chapters, this little book brings to life the small village of Saludain charming details.

The Middlesex County Museum is mentioned in the book. Its establishment was through a WPA Project in 1935. After WW 11, the museum was reopened in 1992 as the below minutes reflect. In the book “My Village Saluda” the museum is noted as being acquired by Middlesex County when in fact it was private citizens who acquired the property. Please enjoy reading and driving the streets of Saluda with this wonderful book as a resource. A paperback, it is available for $34.50 at the museum or here on the website.
